SAGINAW -- A man is lucky to be alive tonight after he drove his car into the Saginaw River.

Authorities say it happened on Saturday evening on Court Street near Ojibway Island Park.

The man was driving a burgundy Pontiac Grand Prix when he lost control and skidded off the road, onto the grass and into the river, which is about 12 feet deep.

No major injuries were suffered and the victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Saginaw Police say the incident is under investigation.
