Cooler temps and rainfall is expected across Michigan today as highs will only reach into the mid-70's.

Despite the break from triple-digit temperatures and the lack of rainfall, drought conditions still remain across much of the midwest.

The Secretary of Agriculture says faremrs suffering from the widespread drought need help from Congress.

Tom Vilsack says Congress needs to pass a $500 billion farm bill or approve additional disaster relief.

The bill has already passed in the Senate but it hasn't been scheduled for a vote in the House.

One-third of the counties in the U.S. have been declared by the Obama Administration, making them eligible for federal assistance.
