FLINT -- Olympic gold medalist Claressa Shields made her rounds in the community this morning at the McDonalds on Clio Road in Flint. Shields sat down for breakfast and took plenty of pictures. The seventeen year-old was presented with awards from the NAACP, Genesee County Chamber of Commerce and Citizens Bank. Shields, set to start school next week has her eyes set on graduation heading into her senior year.

“I’m a little excited to go back to school but I am a little worried. I don’t want them to ask for autographs everyday to where I can’t focus in school because I’m really trying to graduate.”

Shields is the first woman to take home the Olympic middleweight boxing title.
