FLINT -- 44-year-old Johnnie Peters was arraigned Wednesday on charges alleging he had sex with numerous men, knowing he is infected with HIV.

Peters is currently in Jail and faces two counts of sexual penetration with an uninformed partner.

Officials say the incidents happened in 2010 and 2007.

In a video arraignment Wednesday, 44-year old Peters listed his current address as 3725 Ivanhoe Avenue in Flint.

Peters also listed his employer as the New Century Community Center where he served as a director since May of 2012.

Judge Tracy Collier-Nix set Peters' bail at $50,000 for the first offense and $75,000 for the second.

Collier-Nix also ordered Peters to refrain from any contact with former sexual partners.

44-year old Peters is charged after officials say he knowlingly had sex with other men but never disclosed he has HIV.

"There are at least 50 victims out there who had unprotected sexual intercourse and he did not inform victims he was HIV positive," says Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell.

The Sheriff's Office learned Peters was not informing his sexual partners when one victim came forward and said Peters lied about his HIV status.

"We were concerned that Mr. Peters was in violation of Michigan law which requires anyone who is HIV positive to notify a partner before having sexual intercourse," says Genesee County Health Clerk, Mark Valacak.

A second victim also alleges he had unprotected sex with peters in 2007.

Sheriff Pickell says Peters used Facebook and other websites to meet unsuspecting partners.

"We learned from our investigation that he did not inform people because he knew that he would not be able to have sexual intercourse with them," says Sheriff Pickell.

Peters has not yet been arraigned but health officials want this information in the public eye to notify possible victims.

They want anyone who had sexual contact with Peters to get in touch with the Genesee County Health Department. 810-257-3440.
