Armed man surrenders peacefully after five hour standoff

GAINES TWP. -- Police say a lengthy standoff ends peacefully in Gaines Township.

Police took an armed man into custoday after MSP say he barricaded himself inside a home located along Symon Road in Gaines Township around 3p.m.

They say he got into an altercation with another person.

Gaines Township Police worked together with the MSP SWAT team and were able to get the man to peacefully surrender just after 8p.m.

Symon Road was shut down for nearly five hours.

No injuries are reported.

The incident remains under investigation.
