BAY CITY -- Demolition has begun on a historic landmark in Bay City.
The process began on Wednesday at the former Mill End Building on Center Avenue.
Crews from Midland began the work just after 8 a.m. on the building, which sits between Fifth Street and Center Avenue.
"I feel kind of sad this building is going down, but we need new buildings, it will look a lot better," said Bay City resident Al Schmidt.
A new five-story, 30,000-square foot building will be built in Mill End's place.
The new building will feature retail ont he first floor and condominiums above.
