MT. PLEASANT -- An Isabella County pastor accused of killing his female neighbor and dumping her body is set to undergo a psychiatric evaluation.

A preliminary hearing for 55-year-old John Douglas White was scheduled for Thursday morning in Isabella County Court, but a court administrator said that hearing was postponed.

Police say White confessed to killing 24-year-old Rebekah Gay of Mt. Pleasant as part of a sexual fantasy.  He allegedly told investigators he watched necrophilia pornography while he fantasized about killing Gay and having sex with her corpse.  White was engaged to Gay’s mother.

Gay was found bludgeoned and strangled on Oct. 31, her nude body dumped in the woods in Broomfield Township.

White had been convicted for manslaughter in Kalamazoo County and for attacking a woman in Calhoun County.

A new date for White’s preliminary examination has not been set.
