FLINT -- The Genesee County Sheriff picked up two pitbulls suspected of being used for dog fighting.

Genesee County Sheriff Robert Pickell told NBC25 the dogs were tied up outside a vacant house on East Newell Street near Hamilton Avenue.

Both dogs were scarred and showed evidence of being bitten.

The sheriff also said the wounds are consistent with injuries usually found on fighting dogs.

"One of the dogs was very malnourished," Pickell said.  "Probably about 30 pounds underweight and here they were, tied up outside the house and what was it 20 degrees out yesterday morning."

A veternarian will examine the dogs to see if they needed to be euthanized.
