SAGINAW -- Pittsburgh Steelers LB LaMarr Woodley and the LaMarr Woodley Foundation donated 500 gift baskets filled with household supplies and basic-needs to help families prepare for their Thanksgiving dinners at the 5th Annual Thanksgiving Giveaway.
The giveaway took place Tuesday morning at the Civitan Recreation Center at 445 North Second Street in Saginaw.
Woodley, along with Sheilda Braddock, CEO of the LaMarr Woodley Foundation, and Woodley's family members were among the volunteers that helped distribute the items.
The gift baskets included items necessary to supplement Thanksgiving such as: paper plates, cups, forks, spooons, napkins, tin foil, dish detergent, laundry detergent, paper towels, trash bags, toilet paper and hand soap.
"Thanksgiving is the perfect holiday for me to give thanks to the community that raised me," Woodley said. "I want to continue to find ways to give back to it, and with the Thanksgiving giveaway program, hopefully we're helping people keep some money in their pockets.
