FLAGLER COUNTY, FLA. -- A 15-year-old girl was forced to hold up a sign while standing on the street corner as a form of discipline from her parents.

Jasmine, whose full name has been withheld, has been lying, drinking and sneaking out according to her mother Melinda and stepfather Mike.

According to WESH in Orlando, her mother has tried conventional discipline in the past but it hasn't worked.

The sign stated:

"I sneak boys in at 3 a.m. and disrespect my parents and grandparents."

The parents say if this doesn't work, they might try even more drastic measures like forcing her to hold up the sign at her high school or even shaving her head.

Despite this, experts warn that humiliation is not an effective or appropriate way to discipline a child, under any circumstances

Is public humiliation an effective tool to discipline teenagers?
