FLINT -- The Holy Angels Warming Center housed in Catholic Charities Center for Hope in Flint opened its doors today.

The center first welcomed guests in December 2010.

Last winter, nearly ten-thousand visitors came in from the cold to find a hot cup of coffee, a snack, and TV as well as books and magazines to pass the time.

But most important of all, a safe place to stay warm.

"The whole idea of the warming center is not to be a shelter but to be able to help the shelters that are already one.  Now we knew we were needed, because the shelters were full to capacity,” said Jon Manse.

The center will be open through March 31st.
