FLINT (AP) -- A historic site marker noting the sit-down strike in 1936-37 by General Motors hourly workers in Flint has been vandalized.
Green paint was found this week covering the gold letters on both sides of the marker. Some of the paint seeped on the bricks below the plaque. The marker is located on the campus of Kettering University.
A report was filed with Flint police.
David White, the president of the Genesee County Historical Society and director of archives at Kettering, said he noticed the damage on Tuesday morning. The marker previously has been vandalized. White says in 2010 someone put an asphalt sealer on both sides.
The strikes at a Fisher Body plant in the birthplace of GM helped lead to United Auto Workers representation.
