FLINT -- The Flint Police Department is getting a much-needed financial boost to continue funding nearly a dozen officers for the next six months.

The Charles Stewart Mott Foundation renewed a grant of more than $742,000 for the 21st century Community Policing Program.

The grant will help support 10 patrol officers and one police sergeant.

It will also support nine neighborhood safety officers who will focus on blight.

The grant runs through June.
