FLINT -- Normally bell ringing ends this evening but the Salvation Army is extending its campaign through the end of the week at certain locations because they believe the community can rally to make a difference.

Brenden Armstrong is a bell ringer and remembers when his family turned to the Salvation Army for help, "when i was younger me and my mother, she was a single mom, we didn't have much and we looked to the salvation army to get some help and help us out,” said Armstrong.

Major Jon Augenstein from the Genesee County Salvation Army says they are holding out hope, "every year the people of Genesee County have stepped forward to the challenge and we have surpassed our goal,” said Augenstein.

The Salvation Army will not have any official numbers for a few months, but a large donation last week is getting them closer to their goal.
