FLINT -- 28-year-old Mark Blount is sentenced to life in prison with possibility of parole for hitting and killing a 13-year-old girl while fleeing state police in September, 2011.

Blount pleaded guilty to operating a vehicle without a license causing death and involuntary manslaughter in connection with the death of 13-year-old Misty Kurmas.

Officials say Blount hit and killed Kurmas with his van as she was crossing the street for church on Saginaw Street in Flint.

Genesee County Prosecutor, David Leyton, says Blount had marijuana in his system at the time.

The life in prison sentence is above sentencing guildelines in this case.
