DETROIT (AP) -- A young man is dead and another is seriously injured after a shooting during an attempted robbery of a basketball coach near a Detroit high school.
Detroit Public Schools spokesman Steve Wasko says the shooting occurred around 7:30 p.m. Friday outside Martin Luther King Jr. High School. He says a man who helps coach the girls' basketball team was targeted by the pair.
No names have been released. WXYZ-TV reports that the man has a permit to carry a gun and was escorting girls away from the school.
