FLINT -- 22-year-old Curtis Conway Bailey has been convicted of sexually abusing a 10-year-old girl.

Genesee County Prosecutor David Leyton says a jury found Curtis guilty on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of second-degree criminal sexual conduct.

According to testimony, the Flint Township man assaulted the girl on numerous occasions while the victim stayed with her family at Bailey's house and one time at the home of the 10-year-old victim.

The victim testified that she was assaulted while she pretended to be asleep.  The abuse was brought to the attention of authorities when she submitted questions to her teacher via a question box during health class.

The penalty for first-degree CSC involving a child less than 13 years old holds a maximum sentence of life in prison and a mandatory sentence of 25 years in prison.

Second-degree CSC is punishable by up to 15 years in prison.

Bailey will be sentenced on April 8, 2013.
