A way to help those who can't afford home heating

FLINT -- NBC25's Ilse Lujan-Hayes is live this morning from Flint where she is talking about efforts to help those in need.

With temperatures dropping, help is needed for those that cannot afford their heating bills.

The Walk for Warmth program is here to help.

Ilse interviewed Steve Walker, the executive director of the Genesee County Community Action Resource Department (GCCARD).

This deparment's goal is to help break the cycle of poverty by helping those in need.

The Walk for Warmth is a state wide event.

Registration for the Genesee County walk begins at 8:30am Saturday/. The walk starts at 9am.

The starting point for the walk is in front of the G-card building located 601 N. Saginaw Street in downtown Flint.
