According to Forbes Flint is the second most miserable city in the country, right behind Detroit.

Forbes uses a version of the Misery Index developed by Arthur Okun in the 1960's.

The original looks at unemployment and inflation, while the Forbes version also looks at items like crime, foreclosure, taxes, weather, commute times and more.

Forbes also added a new measurement this year: Do residents want to live where they are?

Looking at all of these criteria and more, Forbes came to the conclusion that Detroit and Flint were the most miserable in the nation.

Rounding out the top ten are:

3. Rockford, Illinois

4. Chicago, Illinois

5. Modesto, California

6. Vallejo, California

7. Warren, Michigan

8. Stockton, California

9. Lake County, Illinois

10. New York, New York
