CITY OF SAGINAW -- The Saginaw County Sheriff has again rejected a proposal to have his department patrol the city's streets.

City Administrators during a city council meeting this afternoon said they're moving forward and will likely have to cut back police and fire services by July 1.

Saginaw County Sheriff William Federspiel told NBC 25 that he made his position clear in an email he sent to city leaders today.

In the email he forwarded to our newsroom, Sheriff Federspiel writes, "After careful consideration, I am not comfortable with the idea of policing the City of Saginaw under a contract for law enforcement services with only 84 sworn personnel. Therefore at this time, I am inclined to reject the contract proposal that was sent to me by Mr. Earley on February 13, 2013."

Sheriff Federspiel has expressed his concerns several times at prior meetings.
