The Genesee County Road Commission spent an additional $125,000 on labor to help cleanup after the heavy flooding in the county last month.
GENESEE COUNTY -- The Genesee County Road Commission told NBC25 that they spent an additional $125,000 on labor to help cleanup after the heavy flooding in the county last month.
The added expenses were solely for personnel costs.
Equipment and extra materials have not been added to the total tally.
The county emergency manager has collected claims from local villages, townships and cities, which have been sent to FEMA.
Governor Rick Snyder has asked President Obama for federal funds to help local businesses and residents rebound from the devastating flooding.
"We had a couple of culverts, two culverts that failed as the result of that and then we also had some edge damage on the roads as the water was coming up," said Genesee County Road Commission Manager John Daly.
Officials are still determining how much damage was done in the flooding and what issues it may cause to roadways and bridges in the long run.
