Severe weather causes more than 5,000 outages in Genesee County

More than 5,000 customers in Genesee County are without power after severe weather swept through the area.

GENESEE COUNTY -- Consumers Energy has reported that ,ore than 5,000 customers are without electricity in the Genesee County area.

Most of the outages seem centered around the Flint and Swartz Creek areas.

Approximately 3,500 customers are without electricity in Flint and more than 1,500 are experiencing outages in Swartz Creek.

In addition, almost 400 people are without power in Shiawassee County.

Consumers Eneregy says they have no time frame on when electric service is expected to be restored.
