Gunfire shattered the quietness of a Cumberland Street neighborhood early Monday morning.
Someone called police a few minutes after midnight. Emergency crews found a 39-year-old man shot to death.
Neighbors say, they heard nothing.
"I'm just glad it's not my house," says Paul Blanton, who lives a few doors down. "I feel sorry for the person, but it's a shame. Nobody has any respect anymore."
Neighbor Derrick Napier says, "It's real tragic that that stuff goes on here in the city. Saginaw could be a nice area, but it's just a lot of things going on."
It's been going on for several days now, it's the sixth shooting in the last five days in Saginaw.
Residents fear things could get worse as the summer season kicks off.
Neighbors tell NBC25 they're doing all they can to try to stop the violence. They watch out for each other. They look for suspicious activity, and report anything they see to the police, but they say if there are layoffs, there's not much they can do.
"We definitely don't need that to happen. Hopefully we can just get it where they can stay," says Napier.
"It's a nice neighborhood. I've been here since 1972, and I don't plan on leaving," says Blanton.
