FENTON TOWNSHIP -- Fire officials in Fenton Township are investigating a fire that damaged five boats at Lake Fenton Marina early Tuesday morning.

Fenton Township Fire Chief Ryan Volz told NBC25 the fire initially started on a pontoon boat and spread to a total of five others.

Two boats are reported to be at a loss and four others suffered significant damage.

The owner of the boat the fire started on has been contacted but has yet to comment.

"We're still looking into if it was electrical or if something was left on one of the boats," said Volz.  "We still have not talked to all of the boat owners themselves."

No one was on any of the boats when the fire began.
