FLINT -- Add the name of Billy Durant, the founder of General Motors, to the growing list of life sized statues of automotive pioneers that will be dotting the flint area landscape in the months to come.

Thanks to a grant from Dale and Mary Mclelland, former owners of financial and tax planning of Flint, the Durant statue will join Louis Chevrolet, already on site at Saginaw and Kearsley and, in just a few weeks, one of David Buick....

"You're seeing a rededication of the people of the city of Flint coming together as they did when the automotive pioneers put together the foundation,” said Dale Mclelland.

Billy Durant will actually be the fourth automotive pioneer statue. The third, one of Walter P. Chrysler, is already being created.
