FLINT -- NBC25, Dort Federal Credit Union and Catholic Charities teamed up this month for the second annual 25 Day Food Drive.

Thanks to the seven Dort Federal locations, local youth groups, schools, businesses and athletic teams who participated in the food drive, we have more than doubled our donation total from 2011.

North End Soup Kitchen Director John Manse says, "This year NBC25 stepped up -- along with Dort Federal Credit Union -- and we're over 8,000 pounds and growing."

Manse says Catholic Charities is still in the process of collecting food from all of the donation locations.

We will announce the total amount of food donated next week.

Last year Catholic Charities served more than 170,000 meals, which is a 20 percent increase from 2010.

NBC25 would like to thank everyone who participated in the 25 Day Food Drive.
