DETROIT (AP) -- Authorities say a man suspected in shootings that killed two family members and critically injured his 7-year-old daughter has checked into a hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

Detroit police spokeswoman Sgt. Eren Stephens says the 28-year-old man fired Friday evening at his daughter, grandmother and aunt inside a home on the city's west side. She says the two women died of gunshot wounds and the girl was in critical condition.

Police say the man fled the home on a bicycle but checked himself into the hospital early Saturday morning.

Investigators found a gun at the scene and say the man has a concealed pistol license.

It wasn't immediately clear when he would be charged.
