Some states just aren't satisfied with the results of last week's election.

Residents in more than 30 states have filed secession petitions with the "We the People" Program on the White House website, including Michigan!

A threshold of 25,000 signatures must be met within 30 days for petitions to be reviewed. The Obama administration responded with, "If a petition meets the signature threshold, it will be reviewed by the Administration and we will issue a response."

The petitions are short and to the point. For example, a petition from the Volunteer State reads: "Peacefully grant the State of Tennessee to withdraw from the United States of America and create its own NEW government."

Micah H. of Arlington, Texas filed a petition that had nearly 60,000 signatures as of Tuesday morning.

However, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) distanced himself from the petition on Monday. The Dallas Morning News reported that the Republican governor's press secretary wrote in an email, "Gov. Perry believes in the greatness of our Union and nothing should be done to change it.

Here's a list of states where residents have filed secession petitions in recent days: Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Arkansas, California, Colorado, Delaware, Florida, Georgia, Indiana, Kansas, Kentucky, Louisiana, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, North Carolina, North Dakota, Ohio, Oklahoma, Oregon, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, South Dakota, Tennessee, Texas, Utah, West Virginia and Wyoming.

We're asking Facebook fans this morning how they feel about these petitions.  Do you think states will actually secede?  What does this say about the culture of our society?
