A free day-long event takes place today at the UM-Flint, William S. White Building aimed at helping independent business women (and men too!) get ahead. Here's a rundown of the day's activities, followed by contact information.

Agenda:

9:30-10:00 am Registration & Welcome, treats from Rolls-R-Ready.

10:15-11:30 am Morning Breakout Sessions:

Lessons In "Professional Surfing": Learn how to increase your business by
embracing internet marketing and adding it into your current marketing mix.

Covering Your Assets: Starting a business carries certain liabilities, and
before you fall flat on your face, make sure you know the ins and outs of insurance, banking, ownership styles and more.

1:15-2:30 pm Afternoon Breakout Sessions:

Getting Your Craft On: Yes, there really is such a thing as a profitable
craft business. If you've got the skills, learn how to use them to pay the bills. - Crystal Pepperdine (Founder of Flint City Handmade) & Leanne Barkus (Dorabean.Etsy.com)

Absolutely Fabulous Events: Let's face it - first impressions count. Without a good
one, you probably won't have a chance to make a second one at all. Learn how to turn your next event into a raging success.

2:30-3:00 pm Networking-Schmetworking: How to get the absolute most out of any social event. Learn the ‘art of the schmooze’ and how to do it without sounding like a sales pitch.
