A thank you from a Mid-Michigan mom for all who prayed for her daughter

Friday night, millions stood up to cancer and donated during a special prime time event that was broadcast on NBC25.  One local family wants to thank everyone for doing their part.

We introduced you to 2-year-old Carly Trinklein about 6 months ago. She needed your prayers and support to beat cancer and her family was overwhelmed by all of you how stepped up to help.

Now, we are happy to report that Carly is Cancer free, but she still had a long way to go. "You're life changes like that when it's cancer- I mean you go from not knowing to the next day your life just..... Pause"

More than one year ago, at just 9 months old, Leslie Trinklein’s baby girl Carly was diagnosed with a rare cancer. After 3months of chemotherapy, doctors said Carly was in remission. "She got treated on a low risk protocol- but six months later the tumor we thought was gone... Came back."

The large tumor in her reproductive region was bigger than a lime; Carly immediately began strong Chemotherapy, started to rapidly lose her hair, and went through a 10 hour surgery. "It was quite large so they had to remove all of her reproductive area where it was located at but in doing that they got clear margins... All cancer out."

Cancer free, words of relief for a mother. Leslie says it’s been the longest year and a half of her life, and prays the cancer stays gone. "I get worried I have days where I’m fine but some days I wonder is it gonna come back again you know where are we going to be if it comes back?"

Leslie says the support has been overwhelming; more than 50,000 people from all over the world have logged on to show their support and prayers on the Carly’s Angels website. On that site, Leslie encourages everyone to stand up to cancer. "They need more research cause for the Docs to tell me we don't know what to do it's rare well it's so rare because you're not researching it- they need the money to go out there to test these tumors pick them apart saying what do we need..."

Carly’s mom sent NBC25 and email, intended for all of you who purchased a Carly’s Angels band or helped support her finanicaly. She writes “Thank you for the story you did on my daughter, Carly. Carly’s Angels are everywhere, thank to your news segment. We have received so much support as a result of the story. The community has been amazing. My daughter is still undergoing chemo, but she is currently cancer free. It is such a blessing and I believe the prayers healed her. Thank you so much."

Those of us who have been following Carly, and know how much she’s been through, know she truly is an angel.
