Local college students are trying to break a world record and give back to the community at the same time.
They are hosting a food drive called “Cans Across America” at the University of Michigan Flint. It’s one of many locations across the county attempting to have the largest food collection in history. The goal national is 400,000 pounds of food in a 24 hour period. However, the local goal is to reach 500 pounds.
You can find donation bins set up on the third floor of the University Center until 9 p.m. Donations should be non-perishable food items only.
NBC25 will keep track of their efforts and let you know if they made their goal
