The Flint Cultural Center announces its annual free Holiday Walk scheduled for Tuesday, December 2 from 5:15 to 8:30 p.m. The community is invited to enjoy the beautifully decorated 30 acre campus complete with holiday light displays and luminaries, ice sculptures, festive music, holiday theatre performances, seasonal craft demonstrations, holiday planetarium samplers, current exhibits, refreshments, and Santa Claus himself! Santa arrives at 5:15.m. for a tree-lighting ceremony and then will make his way to The Whiting for family visits and photo opportunities throughout the evening. Visitors are encouraged to bring their own cameras to take pictures with Santa, as well as holiday scenery and displays on campus.
In the spirit of giving, donations of personal care items, high efficiency (HE) laundry detergent, books, magazines, coffee hats, gloves and blankets will be accepted for Health Access' "One Stop Housing Resource Center," a local facility that provides help for Flint residents who have lost their home or are at risk of losing their home. The resource center helps individuals transition from losing homes back to long-term housing arrangements. Contact 810.600.4525 to find out more (or other ways you can help).
Holiday Walk is presented as a cooperative effort by the Flint Institute of Arts, Flint Institute of Music, Flint Public Library, Flint Youth Theatre, Longway Planetarium, Sloan Museum, Sarvis Conference Center, The Whiting, Applewood, and Flint Community Schools. Holiday Walk is made possible by the contributions of many generous sponsors, community partners and volunteers including: The C.S. Mott Foundation, The Flint Journal, NBC25, CARS 108, and Michigan Council for Arts.
The Flint Cultural Center campus is located along Kearsley Street off I-475 at Longway Boulevard in Flint. For more information, call 810.237.7333 or visit www.FlintCulturalCenter.org.
