Work on Janes Road bridge over I-75 is expected to last four weeks.
The Michigan Department of Transportation (MDOT) statewide bridge crew is scheduled to complete critical bridge repairs on the Janes Road bridge over I-75 in Saginaw County.
This project will take approximately four weeks to complete; two weeks for each span over north- and southbound I-75.
Work on northbound I-75 lanes is expected to begin Monday, Dec. 1, with one lane open to traffic during work hours. This work is anticipated to be completed by Thursday, Dec. 18. The work schedule to repair the bridge span over southbound I-75 lanes will be announced. This work must be completed by March 2009, when an I-675 rehabilitation project begins in Saginaw County.
To maximize mobility and enhance safety along the I-75 corridor, lane closures will be in effect Monday through Thursday from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m.
"We will monitor mobility throughout this work and may adjust work hours if necessary," said Steve Katenhus, MDOT Bay Region bridge engineer.
Janes Road over I-75 also will be closed to traffic to accommodate the bridge repairs.
"This closure has been coordinated with the Saginaw County Road Commission," said Katenhus. "MDOT will open all lanes to traffic at the end of each work day."
This project is weather dependent. During inclement weather, all lanes will remain open to traffic in both directions on I-75 and work scheduled will be delayed until the next business day.
