The tough economy is hurting more then the auto industry; it’s also hitting local organizations hard.

Members of the Flint YWCA were upset to learn that due to a lack of funding, the Y’s doors are set to close on December 20. That news brought dozens of people out to protest on Friday.

Carol Hasenohr has been a member of the Flint YMCA since 1993, and the news of its closing hit home for her.  "It's going to be a terrible loss to people like me, I can't help but think that if management had done a better job of marketing, they'd be much better off, it's just a disaster."

The Flint YMCA has been serving Genesee County since 1908.
