LANSING, MI. (AP) -- Michigan State Police say four statewide fugitive sweeps this year have led to 810 arrests, the most in a single year under Project S.A.F.E. Street. Authorities say more than 80 of the 175 people arrested in a sweep last week were picked up in Macomb, Monroe, Oakland, St. Clair, Washtenaw and Wayne counties.

More than 90 people were arrested for parole violations. Some of those arrested originally had been charged with homicide, armed robbery, assault, criminal sexual conduct and other violent crime.

The project has resulted in more than 3,900 arrests since its March 2003 start.
