PONTIAC, MI (AP) -- A suburban Detroit woman who left her adopted teenager in Nebraska under that state's safe-haven law has pleaded no contest to neglect. Teri Martin's plea occurred Friday, the first day of trial in a neglect petition filed by Oakland County prosecutors.
It's not a criminal case but one that centers on her parental rights.
Martin will be allowed to see her three other children for up to four hours a visit at their Southfield home. The hours will expand by the end of December.
Martin also will be allowed to see the 13-year-old boy who was left in Omaha in October. He's back in Michigan in foster care.
Martin says she left her son in Nebraska because of behavioral problems but quickly regretted it.
