MUSKEGON HEIGHTS, MI. (AP) -- Police are seeking three men who beat and robbed a 77-year-old man as he shoveled snow outside a West Michigan restaurant to earn money.

Muskegon Heights police tell The Muskegon Chronicle that one of three men put a gun to the victim's face about 4 a.m. Tuesday and demanded his money.

When the victim tried to knock the gun away with his shovel, he was hit from behind. He suffered a cut to the back of his head and a black eye.

Police say $50 was taken from the man's pocket.
