(AP) -- A suburban Detroit home builder is notifying 16,000 customers that records containing personal and financial information were stolen from its Las Vegas office.
In a Dec. 19 letter, Pulte Homes Inc. notified customers of the Nov. 13 theft of a box containing computer backup tapes with names, addresses, driver's license numbers and financial account numbers for home buyers and company employees.
A Pulte spokeswoman tells the Las Vegas Sun there's no immediate indication any data was used for identity theft.
She says the company is cooperating with a Las Vegas police investigation, and that it was offering to foot the bill for a premium credit monitoring service.
Pulte Homes is based in Bloomfield Hills, Mich.
