MARQUETTE, MI. (AP) -- A Republic teen has died from injuries she suffered in a two-car traffic crash in Negaunee Township.
Michigan State Police officials say 18-year-old Amber N. Kulju was pronounced dead Wednesday at Marquette General Hospital in Marquette. She had been a passenger in a car that was struck shortly before 1 p.m. on Christmas Eve.
The car had been attempting to cross westbound traffic from the median of U.S. 41 in the Upper Peninsula.
The driver of the car in which Kulju had been a passenger suffered minor injuries.
Police said seat belts were used and alcohol does not appear to have been a factor. The Marquette County Prosecuting Attorney's office will review the case.
