GENESEE COUNTY -- Honorable Robert E. Weiss of the Genesee County Probate court passed away Wednesday night.
The Flint Journal reports the former prosecutor and Michigan State University Trustee, Judge Weiss, died overnight of a cardiac arrest.
Judge Weiss was appointed Probate Court Judge by Governor John Engler in 2002.
From 1969 to 1971 he was a City of Flint Attorney. He served as Genesee County Prosecutor from 1979 to 1992; during several of those years he was the Chairman to Governor Blanchard's Crime Commission.
Governor Jennifer M. Granholm today issued the following statement on the passing of Bob Weiss: “Bob was a dedicated and well respected leader who served the state and the people of Genesee County with distinction. We have lost a sharp mind and a talented public servant. Our thoughts and prayers are with the Weiss family during this difficult time.”
Lt. Governor John D. Cherry, Jr. also issued the following statement on Weiss’s passing: “This is a sad day for Genesee County. Bob was a good friend, dedicated family man and a talented public servant who committed his professional life to making Genesee County a great place to live. I will miss him. My prayers are with his family.”
