ANN ARBOR (AP) -- A 17-year-old is expected to be charged with animal cruelty in the baseball bat beating death of his girlfriend's pet rabbit.
Police tell The Ann Arbor News the teen could be arraigned Monday.
He is accused of killing the rabbit during a fight Sunday night with his 17-year-old girlfriend at her home.
The newspaper reports the fight started after she confronted him about using marijuana. The girl used a bat to smash two marijuana pipes in his room.
Her hand was bitten and the rabbit's cage knocked over during a struggle over the bat. The rabbit was hit once and killed as it hopped from the cage.
The girl also was punched in the mouth. Her boyfriend was arrested a few blocks away.
