SUMPTER TWP. (AP) -- A 67-year-old man has been found frozen in his truck outside his Detroit-area home. The Ann Arbor News reports Daniel Hayes Jr. was found Tuesday by men looking for scrap metal. He was sitting in the front seat of his truck with the door open.

Police say Hayes was covered with snow but may have died from a heart attack or other cause. He may have been dead for two weeks.

There were no signs of foul play. Sumpter Township police Sgt. Michael Czinski says Hayes' home had no heat or water and was too filthy to live in. Hayes apparently had been living in his truck.

His two dogs were found starved to death in their nearby dog house. Sumpter Township is in Wayne County, about 25 miles southwest of Detroit.
