MIDLAND -- The following is a message from MidMichigan Medical Center in Midland:
Cancer patients served by MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland are being supported through a $56,000 grant recently given to the Medical Center by the Elsa U. Pardee Foundation.
A portion of this donation has been designated toward the Medical Center’s Tumor Registry. The registry is responsible for collecting, analyzing and reporting on all cancers diagnosed and treated at the Medical Center. This data contributes to treatment planning, staging and continuity of care for cancer patients.
Funding was also given to the annual Elsa U. Pardee Memorial Cancer Lecture. Held in the fall at the Medical Center, members of the medical community and the general public are invited to attend this free program that discusses current information on cancer.
“We are fortunate to have the continuing support of the Elsa U. Pardee Foundation for MidMichigan’s cancer program,” said Joan Herbert, Pharm.D., director of Oncology Services at MidMichigan Medical Center-Midland. “The financial support provided allows us to meet the high standards set forth by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer and elevates our cancer program to a level of excellence achieved by only a small portion of cancer programs in the country. We are extremely grateful for their continuing support of our cancer program.”
