HOLLAND (AP) -- One Michigan clan will be well-represented at the Michigan Intercollegiate Athletic Association swimming championships, with four relatives competing for three different schools.
Two sets of first cousins will compete. They're brother and sister Ryan and Liz Nelis of Hope College in Holland, Mich. and sisters Lindsey and Jami Nelis of St. Mary's College in South Bend, Ind. and Albion College in Albion, Mich.
The championships are Thursday to Saturday at Notre Dame in South Bend.
All four Nelis swimmers competed for West Ottawa High School in Holland, along with three more of their siblings.
Lindsey Nelis tells The Holland Sentinel that having so many family members at meets helps lighten the intensity of competition.
