FLINT -- The Flint St. Patrick’s Day Festival is Tuesday, March 17, from 12:02pm to 11pm.
This year, our Grand Marshal is Mr. Michael Kelly of Flint. He is the 29th Grand Marshal in a series of local Irish celebrations going back to 1982. The annual celebration of Irish culture has been a part of Kelly’s family; his father, Raymond J. Kelly, Jr., was honored as the Irish Father of the Year in 1991 and his niece, Deirdre Kelly, was named Miss Hibernia in 1989. Michael Kelly serves as Executive Director of Public Information for Mott Community College. He previously served as Executive Director of the Michigan Credit Union Foundation and Senior Director of Education & Information for the Michigan Credit Union League. A native of Flint and veteran of the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War, he earned his BA from of the University of Notre Dame and his MA from Wayne State University. His wife, Kay Kelly, is a well-known area figure as well and serves as President of Keep Genesee County Beautiful and as a member of the Flint Planning Commission.
