HARING TWP. (AP) -- Five people have been hospitalized after apparently being sickened by high levels of carbon monoxide found inside a northern Michigan home.

Wexford County sheriff's deputies were dispatched to the Haring Township home early Monday after someone called 911 to report that people there were passing out.

The Cadillac News and The Grand Rapids Press report deputies found two adults and three children inside the residence who were semiconscious and disoriented.

The victims initially were taken to Mercy Hospital Cadillac for treatment before being transferred to Spectrum Health Butterworth Hospital in Grand Rapids.

No names have been released, and their conditions aren't available.

The source of the carbon monoxide remains under investigation.
