DETROIT (AP) -- Mayor Ken Cockrel Jr. is threatening to veto last week's rejection by the city council of a state plan to transfer Cobo Center to a regional authority.
Cockrel says in a letter to the council that members have until Monday afternoon to file a notice of intention to reconsider their 5-3 vote against the transfer and $288 million expansion.
City Clerk Janice Winfrey says the notice would have to be filed before 5 p.m.
Those opposing the transfer have said the city would not get an adequate return on its long-term investment in the convention center.
Council research and analysis director David Whitaker says the state gave the council final say on the deal.
Councilman Kwame Kenyatta says there still are not enough votes to pass the state's plan.
