AUBURN HILLS (AP) -- Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm says she hopes to interest Fiat Group SpA in building its small cars in the state.
The Italian automaker is taking a stake in Chrysler LLC as part of the Auburn Hills-based carmaker's reorganization.
Chrysler filed for bankruptcy protection Thursday with an ambitious plan to emerge in as little as 30 days as a leaner company.
Granholm spoke to reporters Friday near Chrysler's Auburn Hills headquarters after meeting government and other leaders about efforts to save auto jobs and re-employ laid-off workers.
