CANTON (AP) -- Police in Canton Township near Detroit say an Amtrak train crashed into a car, killing all five people in the vehicle. There were no reported injuries aboard the passenger train.

Police Sgt. Craig Wilsher says the crash happened about 12:30 p.m. Thursday in the Wayne County community, about 20 miles west of Detroit.

Wilsher says the vehicle was northbound when it crossed the train tracks and was hit.

He says there were no survivors in the car and no injuries on the train. He says he doesn't know the ages of those killed.

The National Transportation Safety Board didn't immediately have any information about the accident.
