(AP) -- SAGINAW, Mich. (AP) - A Saginaw man has been charged with firing a shotgun blast during a hostage situation at his home, narrowly missing the city's police chief.
The Saginaw News reports 54-year-old Armando Gonzales was arraigned Monday on charges including felony assault, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent and domestic violence-third offense.
Police say Chief Gerald Cliff tried to make contact with Gonzales while he held his wife and another woman hostage at his Saginaw home on Friday. A gunshot rang out from the house and missed Cliff by a foot.
A preliminary exam is scheduled for Aug. 12.
Gonzales is being held in the Saginaw County jail on $500,000 bond. Jail officials couldn't say if he had an attorney.
